X470 X570 and B450 Comparison

If you take the older versions such as the X470 or B350, you’d need a BIOS update to support the Ryzen 3000 series. But that’s the only thing you’d need to run a Ryzen 3000 processor. Now with an X570 or B450 motherboard, you can directly run the Ryzen 3000 series processor.

Why should you get the X570 Chipset?

The X570 is the best among all these in terms of power and performance. You get Better VRMs with better cooling and high clock speeds. Also, this is the only chipset that supports PCIe 4.0. Plus, you get faster RAM support and even double RAM capacity. It also implements a thing called the precision boost overdrive, which tells the VRM how much space is there for overclocking. Why shouldn’t you get the X570? (Expensive)

But it may be the best choice for everyone to get an X570 motherboard. There are several reasons for that. Firstly, it’s expensive! Not everyone needs those premium features that they probably won’t even be fully using. Second, the PCI E 4.0 is the new-gen, and not many GPUs cannot properly utilize a PCI E 4.0. Also, you may not need a Faster VRM. The Ryzen 3000 CPUs are in the very power efficient, so you won’t need an X570 VRM when you can work with a cheaper B450 VRM.

Talking about the looks of the B450M-HDV, ASRock went with a monochromatic color scheme. The board is all black and has a sleek design.

The motherboard has 7 phase power design split into a 4+3 configuration. The board also features a 4-pin 12 V single ATX power connection and is the only motherboard in the market that has it, including other brands.

A 24-pin ATX motherboard power input is also provided. Although there is a heatsink for the power delivery system, it is located a bit on the bare side and may cause heating issues with overclocked processors, which tend to cause a rise in the VRM temperature.

For your memory, the ASRock B450M-HDV comes with two DIMM slots to install your RAM sticks. The two DIMM slots support up to 32GB of DDR4 memory in total with 3200 MHz frequency.

Coming to the PCI-e support and installation of a dedicated graphics card on your system, the motherboard also comes with a full-size 3.0 x16 PCI-e slot. Another PCI-e 2.0 x1 slot is also located just above this one.

Storage solutions are plenty on the B450M-HDV as it offers four SATA ports with 6 Gbps speed to ensure super-fast data transfer rates. Two of the SATA ports are right-angled too. This allows you to install multiple Solid-state drives and hard disk drives already.

To amp up the storages, a single Ultra M.2 slot is also provided with PCI-e 3.0 x4, and SATA compatible Solid-state drives support. Also present with support for both PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA capable SSDs.

Even with the low cost, ASRock managed to implement its parts and peripherals with the ASRock Full Spike Protection. All the USB ports, audio ports, and LAN ports are integrated with this technology to make them last longer and work flawlessly.
